It is with great sadness that we record the passing of Friends of North Bruny’s oldest member, Irene Allston, who died peacefully at home in Dennes Point on 4 August, only a month after celebrating her 101st birthday.
Irene lived life to the fullest right to the end. Those who joined the St Patrick’s Day function in March will remember her vigour on the dance floor, and she was the epitome of style when she stepped out at the Dennes Point Market and Dog Show in late April with her beloved pooches. On her 100th birthday, her son Simon shared a moving story of her life in the August 2024 Bruny News, capturing her remarkable spirit and journey.
Family, friends, and community gathered to farewell Irene at the Barnes Bay Cemetery on Friday 8 August, a perfect late-autumn afternoon.
